Student Life

Faith Life

The Four Pillars of Dominican Life are Prayer, Community, Study and Service or Preaching. At Bishop Lynch, we provide our students with opportunities to pray daily in all classes, at regularly scheduled liturgies, and through all things. We build community in our classrooms, on our sports teams, in our student organizations and through social events sponsored by the school. Our students study and excel in their classrooms with the goal of becoming people who will be able to influence the world for good through their love of knowledge. Service to others is a hallmark of Bishop Lynch High School, with ample opportunities to participate in group and individual service projects.
Father Edwin Leonard, BL's campus chaplain, is highlighting the lives of eight saints during the 2019-2020 school year. Each of the saints is a namesake for a BL house.

Check in each month to learn more about a featured saint and how we can follow their example to lead lives of purpose and piety.

For over 12 years, Bishop Lynch students have traveled abroad to Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Costa Rica or Belize to serve others and to grow in their relationship with Christ. It is a time for reflection, personal growth and serving those in need. Missionaries agree to live simply, which means no technology, no hot water, no hair appliances, and at times very little communication with the world back home. They live in community, sharing space and developing closer relationships with their fellow missionaries. And they return home transformed and inspired, knowing they have made the world a better place, even in a small way.

Bishop Lynch High School requires each student to participate in and complete, in a satisfactory manner, the Service Component of each of the four years of Theology. While some service projects are organized and directed by the school, students will find it necessary to find opportunities on their own. Many service opportunities in the community are offered to our students via FriarNet.

"Above all I am grateful to God whose inscrutable providence sent me to Texas to labor here in the Lone Star state where the stars are brightest, where the fields are fairest, and which is filled with a people blessed with large hearts. I am grateful to God for his blessings."
