Emma Shay-Tannas named National Merit Semifinalist

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced Wednesday the names of the 2024 National Merit Semifinalists which included Bishop Lynch Senior Emma Shay-Tannas.

Emma joins the less than 1% of high school seniors nationwide whose junior year PSAT scores qualify them for the designation of Semifinalist. Additionally, Semifinalists must have an outstanding overall academic record, receive an endorsement from a faculty or staff member, and score proportionately well on the ACT or SAT.

“Emma is incredibly driven. She works hard and her intellectual curiosity amazes me,” said BL Counselor Pam Malouf.

The next step of the National Merit Scholarship process is the Finalist application phase. Finalists will be announced in February, and the 2,500 winners will be selected between April and July from the pool of Finalists.
