Zapletal Ordained to the Transitional Diaconate

Bishop Lynch High School alumnus Zac Zapletal ’18 was ordained to the Transitional Diaconate on Saturday, April 25, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano. The ordination Mass was presided over by the Most Rev. Edward J. Burns, bishop of the Diocese of Dallas, and included five other men from the diocese. The Bishop Lynch community celebrates this milestone with pride and gratitude.

Deacon Zapletal is the son of Ted and Monica Zapletal. His sisters, Ashtyn Zapletal Vogt, MD, ’15, and Lillie Zapletal ’25, are also Bishop Lynch alumni.

As a Friar, Deacon Zapletal played football as a freshman and sophomore and baseball all four years, serving as varsity team captain his senior year. He was an ambassador and a member of BLLive, and he participated in the National Honor Society, Rho Kappa National History Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. He served as a eucharistic minister his senior year and received the Dominic Norman Award, which reflects the character, leadership, and spirit he demonstrated among his peers.

Bishop Lynch has welcomed Deacon Zapletal back to campus on several occasions since his graduation, including as a server for All School Mass and as the keynote speaker for the 2024 World Language Honor Societies induction ceremony.

The Bishop Lynch community continues to offer its prayers as Deacon Zapletal advances in his formation in anticipation of priestly ordination in May 2027.
