The Fund for BL Day is September 21

The Fund for BL Day is September 21

Dear Friar Family,

At the onset of my presidency at Bishop Lynch, I set out to highlight gratitude in a special way by reflecting on thankfulness each Thursday. Thanksgiving has long been one of my favorite holidays and I have often wished for a more comprehensive approach to practicing this intentional gratitude throughout the entire year. I am excited to bring a renewed focus to this practice of gratitude.

Philanthropy is the desire to promote the welfare of others, usually expressed by the generous sharing of financial support. An even broader definition is “Love of Humankind.” Bishop Lynch is a community in which philanthropy is essential to delivering our mission.

As Dr. Riley shared last week, we have published a new Strategic Plan and are setting the course for a new five-year journey to deepen the impact of our mission. A critical component is a desire to strengthen our community by “inspiring a culture of giving” within our current student body and alumni. The desire to implant a heart of service and philanthropy within our students is at the essence of our call to put faith and learning into action. It is our hope that future student leaders not only pursue greatness but also have a deep commitment to magnanimity and a “desire to promote the welfare of others.”

This coming week, we officially launch the campaign for the Fund for Bishop Lynch (FFBL) which culminates in the Fund for BL Day on September 21. The Fund for BL is the first and most critical support for many things that make Bishop Lynch so special. The Fund also helps with our current year operating expenses, making up the difference between what tuition covers and all the opportunities your student receives.

The North Texas community has built a focus on giving in September through NTX Giving Day. While this giving platform provides an increased marketing presence, your generous gift makes a deeper impact when you contribute directly through our own giving portal (click here).

We are excited to kick off our annual campaign this week as we believe not only in the power of your giving to do good for our students now but also in the power of witness. These acts are inspiring our students to carry with them a desire to do good for others wherever their path leads next. On this Thankful Thursday, I am grateful to be a part of this community which shows care for others through leadership and philanthropy.

Peace and Blessings,

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. Winston Churchill
