Sophomore Friar Performs at Catholic Foundation Awards Dinner

Sophomore Ava Ansiaux performed with her Irish dancing group at the 2026 Catholic Foundation Awards Dinner on Saturday, adding a vibrant touch to an evening honoring former Dallas Morning News Publisher Jim Moroney III for his contributions to the Catholic community in North Texas.

Ava has been Irish dancing competitively since she was seven. A proud reflection of her Irish roots inherited from her mom, a native of Ireland who grew up dancing, Ava has competed in local and regional competitions across the country and at nationals in Nashville. She especially loves performing at the North Texas Irish Festival and around the Metroplex for St. Patrick’s Day, spreading joy and culture with her close-knit group from The McLane School of Irish Dance.

“Irish dance is a big part of my life,” Ava shared. “It’s taught me that I am both determined and tenacious, and encouraged me not to give up on something just because it's difficult."
