Ong Named National Merit Scholarship Finalist

Bishop Lynch High School is proud to announce that senior Demetrius "Ryu" Ong has advanced to the next stage in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Competition. As a National Merit Finalist, Ryu is amongst just 15,000 of his peers from around the country whose SAT/ACT scores, academic performance, and school principal endorsement have earned them national recognition and the opportunity to be considered for the full scholarship.

Beyond his phenomenal accomplishments in the classroom, Ryu has led his peers as the Siena House chaplain and secretary of the Asian American Club, and he is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Spanish National Honor Society. Ryu earned fourth place in the Calculus Bowl during his junior year, and he hopes to study robotics engineering in college.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation will begin notifying the 6,870 scholarship winners in March. Please join us in congratulating Ryu and wishing him well in this next phase of competition!
