Merah Gonzalez Learns Servant Leadership as Community Partners of Dallas Teen Board President

Bishop Lynch High School senior Merah Gonzalez was recently named president of the Teen Board of Directors for Community Partners of Dallas, a role that reflects her longstanding commitment to advocacy and service for vulnerable children.

Gonzalez has been involved with Community Partners of Dallas (CPD) for three years through its THANKs (Teens Helping Abused and Neglected Kids) program. Her work supports children impacted by abuse and neglect across Dallas County, while also assisting Child Protective Services caseworkers through fundraising and resource development. “When I learned that CPD serves children impacted by abuse and neglect across Dallas County, I felt an immediate calling to learn more,” Gonzalez said. “Seeing an organization work so closely with local systems to protect our most vulnerable children reaffirmed that this was exactly where I wanted to serve and grow.”

As president, Gonzalez leads fellow student board members in planning events, increasing community awareness, and strengthening outreach efforts. She has helped spearhead initiatives such as a talent show and art night to engage younger audiences and expand support for CPD’s mission. Her leadership emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to servant leadership.

In her time at Bishop Lynch, Gonzalez has cultivated her strength of leadership through involvement in several academic organizations, including the Spanish National Honor Society and Rho Kappa Honor Society, and as a member of the varsity lacrosse and junior varsity basketball teams. As she prepares to graduate this spring, Gonzalez will also be recognized with College Board’s First-Generation Award, which honors high-achieving students who are on track to be the first in their families to complete college.

Gonzalez said the experience has shaped both her personal growth and future aspirations. She plans to study sociology and criminal justice at The University of Texas this fall and pursue a career in federal service, building on the insight she has gained working alongside local agencies. Through her leadership, she continues to embody Bishop Lynch’s mission of service while making a meaningful impact in the Dallas community.
