Friars Reach Out in Record-Breaking Service Event

The Bishop Lynch High School community made its impact felt globally at this past weekend's Service Saturday event with Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). The organization provides meals to children facing food insecurity in 110 countries across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.

As part of this annual service tradition, students and their families spent the day measuring and packaging meals at FMSC's Richardson packing site. Friars prepared a total of 153,576 meals to provide a year's worth of daily meals to 420 children, an increase of 17,712 meals from last year's FMCS packing event. This record-breaking amount brings the total number of meals packed to over one million since the beginning of Bishop Lynch's partnership with FMSC.

In spending their weekend in service to others, Friars carried forward Bishop Lynch’s Dominican heritage of scholarship and service, turning compassion and community into meaningful action for children around the world.
