Evans Nominated for Hal Tehan Award

Bishop Lynch High School is proud to nominate junior Brenden Evans for the Catholic Foundation’s Hal Tehan Scholar Award. The award is given annually to a high school junior who exemplifies Catholic values, dedicates their time to community involvement and service, and demonstrates a commitment to academic success.

Brenden’s love for his Catholic faith is expressed in his service to the liturgy and his community. Brenden has been an altar server at Bishop Lynch since his freshman year, and he also serves at his parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waxahachie. Over the summer, Brenden volunteers with Vacation Bible School at St. Joseph, as well as at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Ennis. Brenden is part of Bishop Lynch’s Helping Hands service group and regularly prepares food for the monthly BL lunch donation to Austin Street Center.

Brenden strives for academic excellence, meeting the qualifications for honor societies in several disciplines. He was inducted into Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society and the National English Honor Society during his sophomore year, and this school year, he earned placements in Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and National Honor Society.

A dedicated member of Aquinas House, Brenden served as a mentor group chaplain during his sophomore year, and this year, he coordinates and leads teambuilding activities as his mentor group’s captain.

Through his dedication to faith, leadership within the House system, and diligence in academics, Brenden embodies the Dominican values of prayer, study, community, and service. Congratulations on your nomination, Brenden, and thank you for representing the mission of Bishop Lynch so well!
