Drum Majors Learn From The Best at UT Arlington Camp

Bishop Lynch Band Drum Major Alex Aceituno (’25, Angelico) and Assistant Drum Major Darby Baines (’26, Angelico) represented BL at UT Arlington’s High School Drum Major Camp last month. Alex and Darby worked with UTA instructors, band directors and former drum majors from the high school and collegiate levels, and even members of Drum Corps International. The five-day camp included instruction in conducting, marching, teaching fundamentals, as well as on leadership and problem solving. 

Aceituno and Baines had the opportunity to meet other high school drum majors from across North Texas and beyond. 

“It was awesome to meet students from other schools," said Aceituno. "They made the experience!”

“This camp has taught me so much, and I cannot wait to put it all into practice,” said Baines.

Bishop Lynch Band Camp, taking place the week of July 29, 2024, will be the first opportunity for these drum majors to showcase their new skills and lead the BL Band. We can't wait to watch Alex and Darby guide their peers and bring their enhanced expertise to the field!
