The Blackfriars closed the curtain on their spring musical this past Sunday after seven incredible performances of CHICAGO: Teen Edition. From powerful vocals and convincing character portrayals to the striking set design, every detail of the show conveyed the talent and diligence of the cast, crew, and director.
"These students exemplified our musical theater culture of dedication, hard work of rehearing, caring for one another, and working collaboratively," shared Director of Fine Arts and Musical Director Catherine Brockette. "Live theatre keeps things exciting with unexpected situations. These Blackfriars rose to each challenge, embraced each situation with positive attitudes, and produced a fun and high-quality show. It was a true joy working with these students and I am honored to be their director. I can’t wait for next year!"
One student in particular stood out amongst the cast and crew. Senior Jack Kilpatrick served as the production's student director and was the recipient of the Mary Kay Brooch, a beloved Blackfriars tradition honoring a senior student who models dedication to the program and leadership amongst his or her peers.
In the classroom or on the stage, Friars shine brightly. Congratulations to the Blackfriars on razzle-dazzling production!
