Congratulations to the following four Bishop Lynch student-athletes on signing to play and continue their academic career at the next level. Bishop Lynch Athletics had a ceremony this morning to celebrate Aven Crosby, Maddie Smotherman, Alicia Gonzalez, and Londyn Perry.
"We are extremely proud and excited to see these student-athletes take the next step in their athletic and academic journeys today," said Director of Athletics Alex Cantillo. "Aven, Maddie, Alicia, and Londyn each exemplify tremendous strength, dedication, and resilience in their pursuit of excellence within their respective sports—character traits we strongly value at Bishop Lynch. We look forward to watching them excel at the collegiate level."
Aven Crosby - Volleyball, Northeastern University
Crosby played two years on the Bishop Lynch varsity volleyball team. Being the ultimate teammate, Crosby played out of position for much of her senior year and still helped the Friars advance to the regionals. In her career, she saw action in 64 matches and accumulated 118 kills, 371 digs, and 28 serving aces.
Alicia Gonzalez - Soccer, Robert Morris University
Gonzalez is a two-year member of the Bishop Lynch varsity women's soccer team. At goalkeeper, she helped the Friars to a runner-up finish in last season's TAPPS state tournament. This season, she has already recorded two clean sheets. Gonzalez was named TAPPS Honorable Mention All-District last year.
Londyn Perry - Basketball, Bates College
A four-year member of the Bishop Lynch varsity women's basketball team, Perry contributed to the Friars' TAPPS state championship win last season. Over her career, she has played in 79 games with 42 starts. This season, she is averaging 14.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 1.3 assists per game. Last year, she earned TAPPS Second Team All-District honors and TAPPS Academic All-State recognition.
Maddie Smotherman - Volleyball, Texas Tech University
A four-year letterman on the Bishop Lynch varsity volleyball team, Smotherman completed her high school career with 1,683 digs, 439 assists, and 95 aces over 144 matches. She earned TAPPS Second Team All-State honors (2023), TAPPS First Team All-District (2023), TAPPS Second Team All-District (2021), and TAPPS Honorable Mention All-District (2022). Additional honors for this season are forthcoming.
