October Opportunities for Community Building

October Opportunities for Community Building

By Candice Barbosa

With fall and football in full swing, and our students finishing up a successful first quarter, I want to take a moment to talk about some wonderful community-building opportunities we are offering to you and your families.

First on the list is HOMECOMING! This is a time to come out and support our Friars as they compete against TCA. This year we are adding a new tradition to our already fabulous homecoming weekend with a House Tailgate. Each house will have a space to decorate to educate others about their houses, show their house spirit and have a fun way to support our Friars. Take a moment to check out each house in Friar Plaza before heading into the game. We have also added to our Homecoming Queen festivities, a Homecoming King. Please join us in congratulating the following students on making the 2022-2023 Homecoming Court:

Mya Dunn
Rowan Myers
Sidney Richardson
Sarah Rios
Samantha Smith

Cooper Alford
Armando Parrish
John Paul Savant
Terrance Thomas
Steel Wylie

After our homecoming weekend is complete, Bishop Lynch will host our annual Feed My Starving Children MobilePack service event on Oct. 22. This service event is sponsored through our Office of Campus Ministry and offers our community an opportunity to spend the day in prayer and giving. Please sign up here if you are interested in spending a Saturday of giving with your Bishop Lynch community.

As the month of October comes to a close, we would like to offer you and your family an opportunity to attend our Day of the Dead Festival on Oct. 30 from 2-6 p.m. Come celebrate with food, music and the beautiful ofrendas our students have created. The month of October will close with our spook-tacular Operation Oddball on Oct. 31. Be on the lookout for pics of the day’s best costumes!

Prior to next month and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to thank all those educators, students and parents who have put in countless hours to make the next two weeks possible.

GO FRIARS!
