Health Clinic

The Bishop Lynch Health Clinic is located on Ferguson Hall, across from the Guidance Suite.

Managing health concerns requires a partnership among the student, the parents/guardians, the physician and the school faculty and staff who work with the student on a daily basis. Our mission at Bishop Lynch is to help enhance the education potential of all students by promoting wellness and facilitating the resolution of health concerns which create barriers to learning.

List of 3 frequently asked questions.

  • Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD BECOMES ILL AT SCHOOL?

Bishop Lynch High School has a full-time registered nurse, Patty Barton, R.N., whose office is in Ferguson hall accross from the Guidance suite.  If a student becomes ill while at school, he or she should report to the school nurse who will assess the student's needs and call parents as necessary. Patty Barton can be reached at 214-324-3607 ext. 4141.
  • Q. WHAT IF MY CHILD NEEDS PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY OR HAS SPECIAL MEDICAL NEEDS?

Over-the-counter medications (Tylenol, Advil, Benadryl, etc.) are available to your children while at school. However, they will only be administered to a student by the school nurse after receiving parental permission to administer that medication. Download the Over-the-counter Medication Form (OTC).

Students requiring prescription medication during the school day must have a medication authorization form on file with the school nurse. Download the Medication Permit Form.

Call Patty Barton to make arrangements for medication administration or to talk about special medical needs.

  • Q.
WHAT IS THE POLICY BISHOP LYNCH FOLLOWS REGARDING IMMUNIZATIONS?

Bishop Lynch High School follows the policy of the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops-Education Department (TCCB-ED):

Every student enrolled in a Catholic School in the State of Texas shall be immunized against vaccine-preventable diseases caused by infectious agents in accordance with the immunization schedule adopted by the Texas Department of State Health Services. A student who fails to present the required evidence shall not be accepted for enrollment. Conscientious objections or waivers, which may be permissible for attendance in public schools, do not qualify as an exemption in Catholic Schools in Texas.

BL VIRTUAL BOOKSTORE

ATTENTION:  Important digital access information! Publishers do not deliver digital access in the same manner. There are 4 ways you may receive your digital access.
  1. You will get an email with an access code and instructions to activate that code.
  2. You will receive the code by postal service.
  3. You will show a receipt to your instructor to receive your access code.
  4. Or, we will create and activate your access code and you will receive this information from your instructor. Please do not assume you will receive your code via email. Publishers do not operate universally when it comes to their digital content.
Also, for future reference, we would like to encourage purchasing your textbooks/ebooks during the free shipping week of July 17th. This gives ample time to restock inventory when quantities are low. There seems to be a trend of waiting until the week before or the week school starts to place orders. This puts those students at a disadvantage in class when they do not have the necessary materials.

Remember, the textbook format is your option. If a digital ebook is listed in the Virtual Bookstore, you have the option of the hardcover textbook OR the digital ebook.  Both are not required unless sold in a ‘bundle’ or ‘print combo’. Note that some classes will require a digital site for homework, activities, or quizzes. This is in addition to the text (whether in hardcover or ebook format) and is the equivalent of a workbook.

Note for MBS Direct
When completing your order through MBS Direct during checkout, you will see “MBS Direct recommends……”. These are suggested study guides and resources NOT required by Bishop Lynch. They are merely recommended by MBS Direct.
