Honors Philosophy Class Takes Field Trip to DMA

Honors Philosophy students in Petra Mehen’s class flexed their philosophical thinking muscles at the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) last week. For the field trip, the students’ assignment was to find works of art to contemplate through the lenses of the classical definition of beauty and Leo Tolstoy’s understanding of art. The students prepared for this field trip by reading and discussing two texts for the two classes prior to the visit. Students discussed their chosen works of art from DMA the same day and the class day after the field trip.
