As Bishop Lynch High School’s head women’s basketball coach for 45 years, Andy Zihlman has had a career filled with state championship wins, coaching awards and student-athletes who have gone on to play at the collegiate level. Coach Zihlman received the ultimate career coaching achievement on May 21, 2022, when he was inducted into the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Hall of Fame at a ceremony in San Antonio.
More than 65 Bishop Lynch High School administrators, colleagues, former players, family, and friends attended Coach Zihlman’s induction ceremony where he thanked his family and the BL community in his acceptance speech.
“This is a special honor and recognition I’m very proud of as most inductees are from public schools. To represent Bishop Lynch and private schools is truly an honor. I am so thankful to Bishop Lynch for this special weekend, but most thankful to God for guiding me this whole time. My wife Teena and my children Coleen, Caroline and Kurt have been the best supporters and I’m blessed to have such a wonderful family. I also am grateful to my players and former players who have blessed me with wonderful experiences and love,” said Coach Zihlman.
