Friar Faculty Spotlight: John Athas

John Athas is in his 24th year of teaching Speech, Technical Theater, and Theater Producing having directed more than 40 plays for the Blackfriars. With a B.F.A. in Acting from Southern Methodist University, a Teaching Credential from California State University, Northridge, and an M.A. in Humanities from the University of Dallas, Mr. Athas also maintains an acting career. His appearances include Friday Night Lights, The Deep End, The Good Guys, and a recurring role in Dallas. With several regional and national commercial credits for Lowes, Academy Sports and Outdoors, Kroger, JCPenney, and more, Mr. Athas has also appeared on the stages of The Globe Shakespeare Theater in Los Angeles, The Dallas Theater Center, the Undermain Theater, and Theater Three.
