Latin may be a dead language, but Katri Niemi makes it very much alive for her Latin learners. Ms. Niemi is a world traveler, having studied abroad in Rome multiple times and traversed both Italy and Greece (she’s fluent in ancient Greek too!), and she uses her experiences to more fully teach about Roman culture. Her primary classroom goal is for her students to be able to read actual Latin versus just simply identifying forms and memorizing grammar. Special thanks to Ms. Niemi for making the classics something to be enjoyed and used by our Friars in the modern world through her cooperative learning philosophy!
