As Christian adults, we have a moral and legal responsibility and are entrusted by God with the spiritual, emotional and physical well being of minors and vulnerable adults as they participate in activities within or sponsored by our Diocese. It is our responsibility and commitment to providing an environment which is safe and nurturing.
We have a fundamental obligation and deep commitment to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our students and their families.
In order to achieve this, the Diocese of Dallas has a Safe Environment Program that implements training, screening, background checks and other procedures that are designed to reduce the risk of sexual abuse of children and vulnerable adults. BLHS, along with surrounding parishes, the Diocese of Dallas, and other Catholic schools, each have the program and is responsible for the program implementation and continuation.
This must be conducted in person at BLHS after the steps have been completed. The person/organizer of the volunteer completes the interview. The following are the policies for which acknowledgment is required:
New guidelines for BL Volunteers regarding Safe Environment
All on-duty Volunteers must wear a picture ID badge and lanyard identifying themselves while on campus.
Please stop at the Legacy gym either on August 9th or August 10th between 8 am and 3 pm and have your ID picture taken. A badge & lanyard will be available once your Safe Environment status has been confirmed clear by our Safe Environment Coordinator Bridget Ellis. You will be notified via email when your badge is ready for pick up. You much have your badge and lanyard before you are cleared to volunteer at BL.
