Safe Environment

Follow the steps below apply to those who have previously been cleared through the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program and are needing to renew training or add Bishop Lynch High School as a location.

If you have completed the program/training at another school/parish within the Diocese of Dallas, simply contact the Safe Environment Director at that location and request they add Bishop Lynch High School to your list of locations. You will then be able to proceed with the following steps to renew your training and receive an ID badge.

The Diocese is currently undergoing a transition in systems for our Safe Environment clearance process. VIRTUS is our new data platform. The following instructions are for RETURNING USERS previously cleared at  another school/parish within the Diocese of Dallas and needing access to their 
profile information from the old database.

*Please note: Although all information should have transferred over, there may be missing information on your profile.*

***PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER AS A FIRST TIME REGISTRANT***
This will cause a duplicate profile to be created.

1. Click the following link to access the VIRTUS website: www.virtus.org
2. Click on “Need Help Login” button
3. Follow the instructions to locate your record
4. When your record is located, you may change your User ID and password to log in. 

Clearance Requirements:

• Current background check: Background checks must be renewed every 2 years. If your background check is outdated, please contact Valerie Guzman to prompt an acknowledgement request be sent to you upon your next login. 
• Compliance training: All Bishop Lynch HS employees and volunteers must complete the following compliance training modules:
  • “Recognizing, Responding, and Reporting Abuse” video and quiz
  • “Slavery Out of The Shadows” video and quiz

Safe Environment Videos

• Current badge: Badges expire 1 year from the issue date. If you need an updated badge issued, please email a recent headshot photo to Valerie Guzman once all above steps have been completed.

Follow the steps below if you are a new family or employee to BLHS or have never completed the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program.

Please keep in mind that all steps must be completed BEFORE you can volunteer and receive an ID badge.

1. Click the following link to access the VIRTUS website: www.virtus.org
2. Click on “First-Time Registrant” button
3. Review the new user guide for step-by-step instructions for registration.
 

Clearance Requirements:

• Background check (volunteers)/fingerprinting(employees): 
  • New Hire employees must complete the fingerprinting process and results must be received by our HR department prior to the commencement of the onboarding process.
  • New volunteers must complete a background check consent form when creating their profile in Virtus. Background checks must be renewed every 2 years.
• References: All users must list at least 3 references and include their primary contact email. 
• References will be emailed a questionnaire to complete. Only 2 complete reference questionnaires are required. 

Interview: 

• New Hire employees: Please contact your hiring supervisor to schedule an in-person interview using the required interview form. Your hiring supervisor will email the completed form to the HR department to attach to your profile.
• New volunteers: Please contact Elizabeth Chavez to schedule your interview. 
• Compliance training modules: All Bishop Lynch HS employees and volunteers should complete the following compliance training modules:
  •  “Protecting God’s Children 4.0” video (automatically assigned to profile upon registration)
  •  “Recognizing, Responding, and Reporting Abuse” video and quiz
  •  “Slavery Out of The Shadows” video and quiz

• NEW VOLUNTEERS ONLY: Once all the above steps have been completed, please email a recent headshot photo to include on your badge to Valerie Guzman, Safe Environment Coordinator for BL.
