2/27/06 The team had another great finish, becoming back-to-back National Prep Runner Up. This year, six Friars were named All-Americans:
1/25/06 Senior Ben Ashmore has been selected to the USA All American Team, as well as the Dapper Dan Dream Team. These two invites are the most prestigious honors to be awarded to a High School Senior Wrestler. Ben will compete against the Best of the Best in Pennsylvania and new Jersey. Luke Ashmore led the Friars Wrestling Team to a 1st place finish at the Lamar invite. Not only did Luke win the meet and take the Outstanding Wrestler title, he set a High School Fastest Pin record with a fall of 4 seconds! The team is currently ranked 12th in the Amateur Wrestling News, 7th in the USA Wrestling polls, and 3rd by the NHSCA. The team will compete for its TENTH TAPPS STATE TITLE on February 11th at First Baptist Academy in Dallas. All Wrestling Alumni are asked to Contact Coach Tim Mathews, to provide email addresses for a e-newsletter, which will keep alumni informed of the team's success. The Junior Friars Wrestling Team will compete in its 4th State Meet on February 19th.
