HEAD COACH TIM MATHEWS |
 |
A 1987
graduate of Bishop Lynch, Coach Mathews was a three-year letterman
in wrestling and football. He earned a wrestling scholarship to
Labette College in Parsons, Kansas, where he was a two-year
letterman and a two time GTE Academic All-American. Mathews finished
his wrestling career with over 80 victories with 60 pins. Under his
direction, the Friars have won 9 TAPPS State Championships. Last
season, the BL team won the 2005 TAPPS and Texas Prep State Titles,
as well as an impressive finish as the National Prep Team Runner-Up
in Bethlehem, PA. The team included 8 All Americans, and finished
the year ranked 31 in the nation! For the team's performance, Coach
Mathews received the 2005 TAPPS Coach of the Year award, an honor
for which he credits the entire coaching staff, as he was on active
duty at Ft. Sill, OK. Coach Mathews has produced 77 individual state
titles with close to 200 dual victories. Tim is a member of the
Bishop Lynch Sports Honor Roll and is now beginning his 13th season
as the Friars Head Coach. Presently, he is mobilized on active duty
in the US Army as the Executive Officer, 1LT, for Echo 1/40th Field
Artillery unit at Ft. Sill. With a total of 20 years service,
Mathews has served as a Cannon Artilleryman, a Drill Sergeant, and a
1st Lieutenant in the Army Reserves for the 2/254th (FA). He is a
fireman/EMT for the City of Coppell. Tim and his wife Rebecca have
been married for four years and have two children. |

ASSISTANT HEAD COACH BOB
LISTON |

Beginning his 6th year with the Friars is BL graduate Bob Liston
'87. Bob continued his wrestling at Labette College where he was a
two-year practice team captain and a two-year letterman. He received
his A.A.S. in Business, then attended Stephen F. Austin majoring in
Marketing. Coach Liston owns his own company, RPM Express Courier,
that serves the DFW and East Texas area. |

ASSISTANT COACH KENNY
MONDAY |

Kenny, a
native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, is beginning his 3rd year with the
Friars. He attended Oklahoma State University to become a three-time
NCA All-American wrestler. Monday pursued a glorious dream, which
became a reality when he earned an Olympic Gold Medal in 1988 and a
World Championship in 1989. He was the silver medalist at the 1992
Summer Games. Monday is a member of the NCAA Sports Hall of Fame and
was recently inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.
Currently Kenny works as a sales manager for the Steve Silver
Company. He is the head coach for the Team Monday Kids Wrestling
Program in Forney. He and his wife Sabrina have been married for 12
years and have three children. |

ASSISTANT COACH KENDALL
CROSS |

Coach
Cross joined the Friars staff from Mustang, Oklahoma. He attended
Oklahoma State University where he earned a degree in political
science and economics. Cross was an NCAA National Champion and a
three time All American. He has won numerous honors, including
national, world and Olympic gold medals. Recently he was inducted
into the NCAA Sports Hall of Fame. Kendall and his wife Rona have
two children. |

WILCOX |

Coach
Wilcox is from Santa Ana, California, where he attended Calvary
Chapel High School. His career high school record was 200-15, and he
earned two State Championships. During his senior year he was
selected to the prestigious Dapper Dan / ASICS Dream Team. Wilcox
attended Oklahoma State University, winning the Big 12 title in 2000
and 2002. Internationally, his achievements include the Junior Fila
Freestyle Team and World Championships. Ty works as a financial
advisor in Dallas, and he is married to Natalie. |
