Head
Coach - Rick Dunn (5th year)
Rick
Dunn is entering his fifth year as the Lady Friars head coach and his
ninth year at Bishop Lynch teaching social studies.
Last
year, Dunn guided the Lady Friars to a runner-up finish at the TAPPS 5A
State Championships and the TAPPS 1-5A District/Regional Tournament.
Junior Amy Ruengmateekhun and Sophomore Erin Barrington earned All-State
honors and both of those players plus senior Lindsey Folse were named to
the All-District team.
In 2008,
the Lady Friars won both the TAPPS 1-6A District Championship and the
TAPPS State Championship, the programs first state title since 1993.
The success of the 2008 team led to many individual honors, including
All-State honors for then sophomore Ruengmateekhun and newcomer Erin
Barrington, as well as TAPPS 1-6A Coach of the Year honors for Dunn.
Additionally, Amy Ruengmateekhun earned her second straight TAPPS
individual title as well as her second consecutive Dallas Morning News
Player of the Year award.
The 2007
season saw three girls earn All-State honors, including Amy
Ruengmateekhun the TAPPS 6A individual state champion and Dallas Morning
Player of the Year. In Rick’s first year – 2006, the Lady Friars
qualified for the state tournament and finished 3rd with
senior Chelsea Odem earning All-State honors.
Coach
Dunn is a member of the North Texas Golf Coaches Association (NTHSGCA)
and the United States Golf Association (USGA).
Rick
graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Aquinas College
(Grand Rapids,MI). Rick’s wife Roni is the Director of
Professional Services for the Cooper Clinic. They are the proud parents
of two daughters, Gabby and Caroline. Rick and his wife are parishioners
at St. Thomas Aquinas.
