Bishop Lynch Student Health Services
A Note from Nurse Barton
Hello and welcome to the Bishop Lynch High School Clinic Website! My name is Patty Barton and I am the School Nurse at Bishop Lynch. I have been a Registered Nurse for 34 years. My experience includes General Pediatrics, Pediatric ICU and Liver Transplant, and Pediatric Home Health Nursing. Prior to joining Bishop Lynch in 2003, I worked for 18 years at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas (Children's Health.)
Born and raised in Peoria, Illinois, I moved to Texas with my husband Tom in 1984. We have been married for 33 years are proud parents of three Bishop Lynch Alums: Mary (03), Tommy (06), and Maggie (09). Working at Bishop Lynch is very rewarding as it allows me to practice the profession that I love in a family-centered school community where each student is encouraged to become the very best version of themselves.
Managing health concerns requires a partnership among the student, the parents/guardians, the physician and the school faculty and staff. Students with unmet health needs have a difficult time engaging in the educational process. As a team, when we address the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students we can support their achievement in the learning process.
As the school nurse, my goals are to minimize lost class time and support student success by providing health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up; and to to promote the dignity of all and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment in which the students are encouraged to live their faith, become life-long learners, self-managers and self-advocates for health and education.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know the students and families of the Bishop Lynch Community. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns or questions you may have regarding the health and well-being of your child. My office number is 214-324-3607 ext. 4141, and my email is patty.barton@bishoplynch,org
