2007-2008 ANNUAL FUND Thank you to all of who have given to the school’s Annual Fund. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. To date, we have raised in excess of $213,000 on our way to a goal of $350,000. Happy Holidays to you and your family from everyone in the school’s Advancement Office. Please take the time to complete the pledge form or you can make your gift on-line. Thank you in advance to each and every one of you and thank you for your continued and generous support of Bishop Lynch and our students. Jim Urbanus Vice President of Advancement What is the Annual Fund? The Annual Fund is the basis of a comprehensive advancement program in any school. It helps sustain programs and activities that are not covered by tuition. Simply, annual giving is the best way possible for parents, alumni, grandparents, alumni parents and friends to help make a financial difference in the future of Bishop Lynch High School. Your investment on an annual basis through an annual fund contribution, at a level that you are comfortable with, will help to raise necessary funds for important school objectives. Why is Annual Giving necessary? Bishop Lynch needs and deserves your support. Our annual fund program is necessary to sustain the life of the school through enriched academic and student programs, as well as faculty support. Tuition cannot cover all the goals that we would like to achieve. Therefore, a charitable tax deductible annual fund gift gives the best opportunity for all including other constituents to support our efforts at Bishop Lynch. Truly, an annual gift is a vote of confidence in Bishop Lynch. Why not just raise tuition, rather than solicit gifts? Although raising tuition is necessary sometimes, because of our need to increase faculty salaries, and would generate a certain level of revenue, we know it will not solve the on-going needs the school faces. Most schools and other non-profits rely upon an annual giving model to sustain their programs. This affords an opportunity for all constituencies: parents, alumni, grandparents, alumni parents and friends to help support the mission of the school at a level they feel comfortable with through their annual gift. It also provides a tax deductible charitable gift opportunity for each donor. What are matching gifts and will I get credit for them with my pledge? Matching gifts are gifts that an employer will give annually to an educational institution or other non-profits as an employee benefit by matching the gift made by an employee on a 1:1; 2:1; or 3:1 basis. In the Annual Fund, we will give full credit to the donor for any gift they make as well as any match their employer makes. In many cases, this can be a wonderful way to increase your gift to the school. For example, a gift of $250 from a donor, matched by their employer on a 1:1 basis for an additional $250, will credit the donor with a $500 gift to Bishop Lynch. Simply ask your employer about their matching gift program and forward the company form along with your gift and BL will do the rest. You can also visit our website and click on the link identifying all matching gift companies. Why Me? At a time when there are many requests for your charitable dollar you may ask: Why Bishop Lynch. The answer is simply twofold: Bishop Lynch is worth your additional investment because nothing could be more important than a child’s education. Secondly, in a school with our tradition, unique mission, heritage of scholarship and service, your gift to Bishop Lynch High School will truly make a difference in the life of our school and our students.
